OmniMark

Graham uses the OmniMark tool produced by Stilo to carry out all his Word and RTF to XML conversion work. It is exceedingly fast, extremely robust and capable of highly sophisticated and complex conversions. Graham has over 20 years’ experience using OmniMark and is an OmniMark Partner.

Exegenix

This sophisticated tool allows PDF and PostScript files (that is, documents without tagged text) to be converted quickly and cost-effectively to XML.

Exegenix technology decodes a document in the same way that we do. It looks at a document as a whole and uses visual clues. It then takes into account each object’s size, position and context to determine its importance.

DTDs versus schemas

Graham chooses to work using Document Type Definitions (DTDs) rather than XML schemas. He recognises that XML schemas have more data validation, but experience tells him that OmniMark’s inherent data matching and validation capabilities more than make up for this.
